Music Video Shoot- Eyes on Skies

It was a fun weekend for shooting a music video. Photographer Britney Higgs and I spent the day on saturday working with the band Eyes on Skies to film a music video for their new album releasing this next year. It was great to work with such a creative minded band and such willing subjects. 

Their band managers were also very willing to help us out when nature got in the way and we had to change a few ideas for filming. The weather was perfect for the setting, though we probably would not have complained had it been just a little bit warmer. 

After filming the video and looking through the footage I have become a big fan of music videos. I enjoy the creative aspect of looking at the lyrics and discovering images to present the best portrayal of what is trying to be said. There are so many different things that you can do with music videos. 

Another aspect that I really enjoyed was having a group of people come up with ideas and start brainstorming. With our group for this video ideas flowed and we were able to build off of one another's ideas. It was a beautiful thing. 

I definitely look forward to filming more videos such as this in the years to come. 

Snow Shoeing Shots

Recently  I took a group of people up to the waterfall located off of Lakefork road trail head. It was quite the adventure. I have been up this trail many times but never in the winter and with snow shoes. The trails were a bit more difficult to navigate but overall it was a great experience. 

One of the most challenging things was getting the settings correct on the camera for exposure. There was snow that glows bright white contrasted with rock and pine trees. Here are a few shots that I got from the trip. 

There is always room for improvement. I feel that i'll need quite a bit more practice with shooting snow shots before I can feel completely confident in getting the shot and exposure that I desired in the first place. 

Waterfalls

I was searching for something to blog about this week and I 'stumbled' across this collection of waterfall shots. Some were of great quality and others appeared to be just happy accidents but still wonderful. 

It was a fun collection to look at for inspiration of nature photography. I especially liked the shot of Niagra Falls in the winter. There are endless possibilities for capturing nature, every day it is different. I think it would be interesting to see a series of these same waterfalls throughout the year and see how they change with season. 

Also for an upcoming assignment we are looking to combine video and photos together. I think it would be so great to have waterfall footage just to hear the rush of the water in conjunction with great photos. 

The one flaw with this collection is that I didn't see any of the waterfalls from Yellowstone National Park, which I believe are some of the most beautiful. I guess it is all up to the person compiling.

Work With HDR

Here are a few shots that I have worked out in HDR. They didn't turn out all the way I wanted, but I can tell that HDR is going to be a medium that takes a little time to get used to. I do enjoy how the subjects that move between images still show up slightly ghosted. 

Thanksgiving Italia
