I found this Yahoo news article interesting: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/5sAD7F/news.yahoo.com/why-digital-cameras-disappearing-173800439.html/
It discusses the decline of compact digital camera sales. I guess I never thought about it but it makes sense. Smartphones and cell phones are increasing the quality of built in cameras. And as a college student it becomes increasingly more apparent that people take the path of least resistance. If you can take a photo and immediately upload it to the internet on one device then why not? Even if the quality may be a bit better, taking the photo on a camera then uploading it onto your computer and editing then uploading to the internet requires a lot more work than the click of a button.
This means that camera companies are going to have to change their marketing schemes. Maybe they will start partnering with cell phone companies to make the cell cameras that much better. Or we might just see a new chapter of photography and cameras emerging due to the smart phone.
Regardless it will be interesting to see what happens in the future.
